Summer Drinks

We all can agree that the best part of summer is the abundance of cool delights we consume! We yearn for something cold and soothing to calm us down when the mercy soars, the temperature is high, and the heart drives us crazy. To relax and comfort our bodies from the inside out, we typically reach for a bottle of cool water or a can of soft drink. But is that the best we can get? No, not necessarily. One can use a variety of tasty and refreshing summer drinks to quench the thirst and escape the sweltering heat. As a result, we’ve provided you with a list of tasty, healthful, and refreshing summer drinks that you may enjoy with your friends on a hot summer day.

Introduction

Summer has arrived, and I know that none of us enjoys the sweltering heat and oppressively bright sun. Warm winds are the worst, and the Sun doesn’t seem to retire. During the summer, it is especially important to pay attention to staying hydrated. Yet simply drinking water might not be sufficient. In the summer, my grandmother frequently suggests drinking sorbets or juices to restore the fluids and nutrients lost via sweating. So, we shall discuss refreshing summer drinks that are nourishing and invigorating to power through the sweltering summer, taking a few cues from her books and also being fascinated by the drinks offered by my relatives and close friends.

Nimbu Pani, buttermilk, lassi, fruit juices, and milkshakes are just a few of the mouth-watering and incredibly refreshing summer drinks that one can prepare in the convenience of their own home. All yoghurt-based drinks, including Buttermilk in the south and Lassi in the north, are incredibly adaptable and simple to produce at home. Aam Panna is a fantastic beverage to prevent heat stroke. You can keep a thick aam panna mix, which is rich in vitamins and iron, in the refrigerator. Another well-known cool summer beverage prepared with dry fruits is called Thandai. Thandai, typically offered at festivals, particularly Holi, can be served at your upcoming summer celebration. Wouldn’t it be amazing if refreshing summer drinks promised you both health and freshness? Here is a list of flavoured drinks you can make at home to quench your thirst and beat the oppressive heat. You can even add them to your meals.

 Refreshing Summer Drinks

Due to perspiration, our body loses water quickly in the searing heat, necessitating continual hydration. Even when nothing quenches like water, summer is the greatest season to stock up on a variety of hydrating drinks that will instantly revive your body as well as quench your thirst. Consider stocking up on summer beverages that are full of healthy ingredients like yoghurt, fresh fruit, spices, and herbs. Let’s have a look at a few of the top refreshing summer drink ideas you can make at home to beat the heat and humidity.

  • Aam Panna: In India, mangoes are a symbol of summer. Mangoes are our favourite fruit, regardless of their size, shape, or preparation. But, those raw mangoes make summer much more enjoyable and desired than those juicy and soft mangoes. It makes my mouth water just to imagine a slice of raw mango with salt and chilli powder sprinkled on top. And our first refreshing summer drink is flavoured with raw mango and packed with nutrients. This recipe is easy to prepare but takes some time. The green mangoes are first boiled, followed by the addition of saunf, sugar, black salt, water, and jeera (cumin seeds), which are then all combined and blended. When the mixture is prepared, you must strain it to remove as much juice as you can by adding water once or twice. Enjoy the beverage after serving it with some ice cubes!
  • Bael Sharbat: A fruit called bael is ideal for easing summertime heat. This juice is not only mouth-wateringly refreshing but it is also loaded with vitamins and nutrients that support immunity and general health. The bael fruit has a tough exterior and a pulpy interior. It is a messy operation to crack open the fruit and remove all the pulp before making the sharbat. Add sugar, a dash of black salt, and a decent amount of water to the pulp. You can also experiment with adding a few drops of lemon juice or another juice, such as orange or litchi, with enhancing the flavour. Now just combine them all, and be careful to avoid over-blending. Enjoy after serving with a few ice cubes!
  • Nimbu Pani: Every Indian home during the summertime prepares nimbu pani, a cool summer beverage. Making the recipe just requires a few ingredients from your kitchen and takes very little time. A glass of fresh Nimbu pani can be made with soda or cold water. Pick a good container, add the necessary amount of water, sugar, and salt, and stir. To dissolve it, stir. Add the lemon juice until the mixture is tart; if it becomes too sour, add more water. Adding pudina leaf juice will help. Serve the refreshing summer drinks with ice cubes on top and serve with lemon slices.
  • Buttermilk: Buttermilk, often referred to as Chaach, is a very well-liked yoghurt-based refreshing summer drink. A churned yoghurt known as buttermilk is created by combining certain seasonings with water. Buttermilk’s major component, yoghurt, is frequently used in meals, particularly in the summer. Moreover, it serves as a cooling agent and aids in preventing sunstroke. To make this delicious treat, combine a bowl of yoghurt with half a cup of water, and then begin blending the ingredients until they form a thin, uniform consistency. To improve the flavour, sprinkle on a little salt and cumin powder. Enjoy while serving with a few ice cubes! You must try A2 buttermilk if you are looking for authentic, real touch.
  • Jaljeera Pani: One of the popular, flavour-filled traditional north Indian refreshing summer drinks is jaljeera pani. Numerous street sellers are selling it on the streets. You can either make it with simple water or even with soda, flavouring it to taste with salt and masala. You will need jaljeera powder, which is easily found in grocery stores, to make it at home. Add some lemon juice, water, or soda, top it off with a few fresh mints, but also ice, and you’ll have a refreshing drink in no time. For flavour, one could also add ginger.
  • Lassi:  Lassi, a beverage made from yoghurt, is frequently referred to be the “Pride of Punjab.” After consuming one of the cool and refreshing summer drinks, i.e., lassi, you’ll always want more because it’s so creamy, thick, and flavourful. Lassi is prepared using sweetened curd and is paired with a substantial amount of malai. You can prepare this with salt or with sugar. The salted variety can also be spiced up with mint, coriander, Hing, ginger, and other herbs. For the sweet variation, cardamom powder and sugar can be used as flavours. Fruits like strawberries, mint, mangoes, and other lassies can also be added. You can always decide to help satisfy your appetite and quench your thirst. If you want to drink the purest form of lassi, try A2 lassi prepared using A2 dahi
  • Rooh Afza: One of the oldest refreshing summer drinks that we have all enjoyed while growing up, and today is this one. Simply combine water and ice to make this rose-flavoured beverage, which is a vibrant pink colour. Substituting cool desi cow milk for water is one of my favourite ways to improve the flavour of this beverage.
  • Sattu Ka Sharbat: Chana or jaun is used to make this whole grain, refreshing beverage for the summer. In Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, this beverage is wildly popular. Although sattu powder is readily available in grocery shops, it’s generally believed that preparing the powder at home elevates the flavour and taste. Just combine the sattu powder with water to create this sharbat. You can add salt, lemon juice, and sugar to this beverage to make it salty. And to make it sweeter, just combine cardamom powder with sugar or gut. Simply add a couple of ice cubes and enjoy!
  • Thandai: This refreshing summer drink belongs on our list because the name “Thandai[1]” itself indicates cool. During the Holi celebration, this beverage is often consumed, and some individuals add bhang to the beverage to make the festival even more exciting. This drink will quench your thirst and give you coolness from the inside. It is made from creamy chilled milk, fennel seeds, saffron, almonds, cardamom powder, saffron, rose petals, etc.
  • Sol Kadhi: This unusual drink can be enjoyed hot or at normal temperature and magically serves as a fantastic cooler. This blush-coloured beverage, which has its roots in the Konkan coast, is prepared with coconut milk as well as kokum syrup with a remarkable boost from chillies and ingredients like cumin and mustard seeds. The Konkan coast is famous for its abundant supply of kokum, or amsul. Sol Kadi, a popular gently sweet and tangy beverage popular in Mumbai but still gaining traction all around the nation, is reputed to be the ideal way to cap off a spicy meal, particularly in the summer. The body and the soul both benefit from it.
  • Paneer Badam Drink: Due to its many health advantages, almond milk is already one of the most widely consumed beverages. However, now that summer has arrived, our mothers are searching for hydrating recipes that will fill us up and refresh us physically and mentally. Paneer badam milk is one of the refreshing summer drinks. It is really simple to make. Almonds that have been soaked and paneer should be combined into a fine paste to prepare this drink. Cook the resulting mixture with milk, sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron threads. Once prepared, the beverage should be chilled for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Coconut Water: Another cool summer beverage that is incredibly refreshing and nutrient- and vitamin-rich is coconut water. This specific beverage requires no special preparation; simply pour it over a few ice cubes and sip. Although packed coconut water is another option, pure coconut water is better.
  •  Watermelon Juice: The juice is one of the most refreshing summer drinks on our list since the fruit is so reviving on its own. It is the ideal fruit to soothe our thirsty bodies and throats in the heat as it contains 90% water. Watermelon juice has several health benefits, especially for our stomach and digestive systems. Slice the watermelon into little pieces, making sure to get rid of all the seeds to make this drink. The watermelon chunks, cumin powder, a dash of salt, pudina leaves, sugar, and any more masala of your choosing should now be added. Juice should be strained before being served with ice.
  • Amla Juice: Are you looking for one of the healthiest and most refreshing summer drinks? Amla juice is right for you, then! When you purchase it at the market, all you need to do is add salt and, if desired, Hing, Asafoetida, chat masala, and black pepper powder to create a cool summer beverage. It not only keeps your body strong and immune but also aids in coping with the summer heat.
  • Mango Mastani: Mango Mastani is a well-known beverage from Pune. It is regarded as more of a dessert than a drink and is incredibly hydrating and filling. Mix 500 ml of cold milk, 2-3 juicy mangoes that have been cut into thin slices, 2-3 teaspoons of sugar, and cardamom powder to make Mango Mastani. You can add more milk if you prefer the beverage to have a looser consistency. Put some of your favourite ice creams in a glass before serving. Then, sprinkle additional chopped mangoes, dry fruits, and mint leaves.
  • Rose Milk: Rose milk is one of the ultimate refreshing summer drinks that rule many hearts. Take chilled milk, add sugar & rose syrup, and after that, add rose syrup to it. One can use A2 Gir Cow Milk to prepare it.
